Hi, I'm Derekah Kingery!
Strategy Consultant | Ely, MN & Beyond
I'm the Founder of and Strategy Consultant for Stonecatcher Consulting. I earned a B.A. in Human Services and an MBA, both from Millikin University. My background is in ministry, fundraising, community development, and nonprofit work, which has given me a skill set that matches my desire to build communities that flourish and strategically solve the problems that prevent that flourishing.

Before I founded Stonecatcher Consulting, I worked as an independent contractor for a marketing company. There I managed crowdfunding campaigns, social media accounts, and online communities for clients in the tabletop gaming and publishing industries, ranging from indie to well-known creators.

Outside of work, I enjoy being active in the Ely community. This includes volunteering with youth, serving as Senior Warden at my church, and attending community events (especially NLAA musicals!). I also enjoy playing board games and tabletop roleplaying games with my wife, family, and friends.

Fundamentals
Before we build anything else, we'll make sure the foundation is strong enough to hold it. That is how we build a strategy that will be sustainable and won't collapse the moment your capacity shifts.
Authenticity
The biggest assets you have are your story, your voice, and the reasons for the work you do. My role is to help you use those assets in a way that helps meet your goals. We're not pretending to be someone else in order to be successful.
Intentionality
I won't make recommendations because they're trendy or because they worked for someone else. The only strategy that will work is one that fits your goals, your audience, and your capacity.
Transparency
I don't have a hidden agenda or a secret answer I'm steering you toward. What you see is what you get, and if anything is unclear, you are encouraged to ask! You should never leave an engagement unclear about how we got to where we landed.
Humility
You are the expert on your work. I bring strategy, structure, and outside perspective, but none of that replaces what you know. My job is to ask the right questions so your knowledge of your community, your clients/customers, and your mission stays at the center of everything we build.
